Students

Hillwood prides itself on developing a lasting relationship with its diverse group of students. Through classroom activities and regular excursions to some of San Francisco’s wonderful cultural offerings, from plays and musical events to science-focused field trips, the school’s staff consistently shows students that learning can happen anywhere – and it can be fun.

Whether students go on to high school at Lowell, Gateway, Saint Ignatius, or Sacred Heart, we expect to see them back at Hillwood. Former students regularly return to the classroom to help mentor and prepare upper-level students for life after Hillwood. Our small size allows students to build strong, lasting bonds.

Uniforms

The Hillwood tradition has long included forest green v-neck sweaters, navy blue slacks, and blackwatch plaid skirts. Parents appreciate the streamlining effect that a uniform has on the morning routine, and students – thanks to Harry Potter – take pride in their school attire. Still, they look forward to once-a-month “free dress” days.

To order a Hillwood Academic Day School uniform online, view the Dennis Uniform web site. You can also visit Dennis Uniform’s San Francisco store at 590 10th Street in San Francisco. The phone number for the store is (415) 864-3401.

Lunch & Snacks

Another benefit of Hillwood is our daily hot lunch. For nearly sixty years, the school has been serving up healthy, varied, all-you-can eat hot lunches. Better still? The cost is part of Hillwood’s $1,500 per month ($15,000 annually) tuition.

We find students do best and behave best when filled with tasty, healthful, home-cooked meals. Our lunches and 5 p.m. snacks encourage students to develop what we hope will be a life-long appreciation of good food.
